Metallic and decorative powder coating effects

A decorative effect is created by more than a colour code. Powder type, particle distribution, film build, part geometry and line settings all influence what the surface looks like.

Designed for visible metal surfaces

Intercoat decorative series can be considered for architectural details, metal furniture, retail elements, housings and other products where the finish is part of the design. Available directions include metallic, antique and textured effects. The exact range should be confirmed against current samples and technical documents.

Choose the effect by process as well as appearance

Dry-blend and bonded metallic finishes are different coating directions. The choice should reflect the target look and the way the powder will be applied, handled and, where relevant, reclaimed on the line. Do not treat the two methods as interchangeable on the basis of a small colour image.

Agree a physical colour and effect reference.
Use a representative substrate, pretreatment and part geometry.
Record application settings, part orientation and target film build.
Define how virgin and reclaimed powder will be controlled if reclaim is used.
Inspect the finish under agreed lighting and viewing conditions.
Keep batch and trial references with the final approval sample.
